So just how was the honeymoon? Well,
fantastic and the best holiday I have ever been on to say the least
and we both made a mini "daily diary" to remember the
event.......
Tuesday 19th August
Today was another early start. We had
the scuba clinic first thing, which was simply learning the basics
in the hotel pool.
This was really strange at first, learning to breathe naturally underwater,
however once we got used to it it was really cool, even just swimming
around in the pool. We go out into the Ocean on thursday, lets hope
we see some cool stuff.
Then we had a lazy afternoon by the pool, getting as much sun as possible.
Wednesday 20th
August
A big excursion planned for today, starting by another
2hr bus drive. First destination was the blue lagoon, and it really
is blue. You can swim in these waters, but the wierdest part, is there
are hot and cold spots as you swim around.
We then had lunch, and moved on to the main attraction of the day,
the river rafting. These rafts really are traditionally made out of
bamboo, and give an excellent 2hr ride down the river for 3 people,
a couple and the captain/skipper of the boat. Another good point,
is the fact there are floating bars all along the river, meaning red
stripe is always accessible.
Thursday 21st
August
We got up this morning and had breakfast with some
people we had met over here. They were leaving today, so we said our
good byes.
Next was the real scuba diving, out in the ocean. This was fine until
we had to start our descent, it was really quite frightening going
down into the ocean for real. Once at the bottom, it was amazing,
all sorts of marine lie and coral could be clearly seen in the crystal
waters. We went for a 30minute dive, but this was over with all too
quickly!! We will try for another dive on monday before we go!
Friday 22nd August
This morning we left at 8, for another horse riding
adventure, only this time it was to a more local place, the Prospect
Plantation.
It was a short 2hr ride, which was nice, but not as good as the
chucka Coves tour, we done earlier in the week. However we did learn
how Jamaicans get their coconuts, and turn them into various foods.
Saturday 23rd
August
Today we went to probably the most famous attraction
of all Jamaica, the Dunns River Falls. This is basicaly a climb up
900ft of a giant rushing waterfall. You go up in large groups and
hold each others hand in one long line. There are several photo stops
up the waterfall, where the guides that take you up will take your
photograph, but the water is absolutely freezing! The whole climb
took around 1.5 hrs to complete.
At 4:00 today, we got the hotel photographer known as Ridley to take
some honeymoon shots for us with my camera, they turned out great.
Sunday 24th August
Today was an exciting day, one we had been waiting
for, to finally swim with dolphins! For this we went to Dolphin
Cove, which included a nature trail where we got to see animals
such as parrots, snakes, and lizards!
After this, we met our 2 dolphins, Sky and Hannah, they were simply
amazing and both came from mexico! We got to do all sorts of things
with them, such as dorsell pull, dolphin dance, and the foot push.
Luckily there was a a photographer on site that managed to get a
shot of us kissing the dolphins!
Monday 25th August
Today was our last full day, hence no excursions
or trips planned, just one last burst of sun before we fly home
tommorrow!
We did however wake up to a huge storm this morning with thunder,
lightening and rain! but that soon cleared up around 9/10am.
Later on in the evening, there was a beach party taking place, where
everyone dined on the beachfront. After the drinks started flowing,
audience participation was required, and it ended up with Helen
doing the Limbo, and Scott dancing "Jamaican Style", I
hope noone has video of that!.
Tuesday 26th August
Nothing really exciting happened on the tuesday,
the travelling was fine, the flight was on time and we made it home
safely!
All in all, a very successful and fun trip that we both will remember
forever! Now we have a the full intention to return back to Jamaica
as soon as possible, the people were just so friendly and welcoming!
